Août 31, 1947

Leroy Brown, Sr. was born in Beaumont, Texas to the union of Hildre Dock Brown and Bessie Mae Franklin-Brown on August 31, 1947. He was baptized at an early age at Sunlight Baptist Church in Beaumont, Texas. He was a faithful member of Harvest Time Bible Church in Port Arthur, Texas where he served as a Timothy Man and worked closely with the sound department. He loved his church and was there anytime they needed him for any odds and ends that needed to be done.

Leroy graduated from Abraham Lincoln Senior High School in 1966. He was later drafted into the United States Army in 1967 at Fort Polk and spent one year in Vietnam. He concluded his military service at Fort Hood in 1969, receiving an honorable discharge for his service to his country.

Leroy was employed with Texaco, Inc. and became a Supervisor, Zone Foreman Maintenance and retired from Huntsman after thirty-eight years of service. Afterwards, he was owner and operator of Buffalo Soldiers Trucking. Leroy enjoyed the country life and spent most of his time in Louisiana and Newton, Texas where he was an average hunter of wild game.

Leroy departed this life Friday, September 30, 2011 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. Leroy was preceded in death by his father, Hildre Dock Brown; three brothers, Ramsey Earl Brown, Wilder "Ricky" Brown, and Herbert Newton Fields; one sister, Hilda Faye Brown-Johnson; and one nephew, Larry Carl Brown.

Leroy leaves to cherish his precious memory: His wife, Marjorie Brown, his mother, Bessie Mae Brown; his sons, Leroy Brown, Jr. and Kilrean Craig Brown, Sr. (Jessica); his daughter, Sheena Lenae Brown; his sisters, Vanie Dell Brown, Brenda Brown-Miller, Eva Princess Brown, and Doris Jean Brown {Khaleelah Muhammad}; his brothers, Marcellon Newton, Alton Brown, and Thomas Brown; ten grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
